Prof. M. Shechter ( Member of Bashaar, Department of Economics, Chair Department of Natural Resource and Enviromental Management, Director Natural Resource and Environmental Research centre University of Haifa) was on the organizing commitee of the International Confererence on Privatization in Higher Education that was held at the Samuel Neaman Institute at the Technion on the 7-8 January 2008.
Prof. Shechter acted as chair for the panel on "Reflections on the future developments in private higher education"
A Conference was held in Honor of Prof. M. Shechter at the Aviva and Samy Observation Gallery on the 29th November 2007. Guest speakers were Prof. Karl-Goran Maler, Prof. Nava Haruvi, Ms.S. NRERC in cooperation with Land Economics Research Institute (LEI) of the Dutch Wageningen Agricultural University organized a bi-national workshop on the "Management of Conflicts between Nature Conservation and Agriculture", partially funded by the Dutch and Israeli Ministries of Agriculture. The workshop was held in Kibbutz Bet- Oren on February 25-26, 2007, and included scientists from the Netherlands and from academic institutions in Israel, as well as scientific staff from Israel's Nature an Parks Authority and the KKL. A follow workshop is scheduled for September in the Netherlands.
