Dr. Efrat Elimelech is a researcher and consultant specializing in waste policy, sustainability, and environmental management. She holds a Ph.D. in Natural Resources & Environmental Management from the University of Haifa, where her research focused on quantifying and characterizing household food waste.
Dr. Efrat Elimelech has conducted extensive research on food waste production patterns, consumer perceptions of waste, and sustainability-driven policy interventions. She has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, contributed to policy reports, and collaborated with academic institutions, government agencies, and industry partners to develop evidence-based solutions for waste reduction and sustainable resource management. Alongside her research, she has served as a lecturer at leading institutions, teaching courses on sustainable design, consumption, and environmental policy.
With nearly two decades of experience, Dr. Efrat Elimelech also provides environmental consultancy services. She advises government agencies, local authorities and private sector clients. Her expertise includes environmental project management, regulatory compliance, waste audit methodologies, and circular economy initiatives. She has led key projects assessing waste reduction opportunities, designing strategic national plans, and providing expert opinion on municipal and national waste regulations.
