In December 2025, NRERC senior researcher Prof. Ruslana Rahel Palatnik appeared in court and delivered comprehensive expert testimony on the economic value of the damage from  air pollution and GHG emissions resulting from forest fires. In her testimony, Prof. Palatnik presented the research-based evaluation. She emphasized the effects of fire events on the health, economic activity, and the well-being not only of communities located near affected areas, but of the entire population in Israel.

פרופ’ רוסלנה רחל פלטניק, עמית מחקר של המרכז לחקר משאבי טבע וסביבה  הופיעה השבוע בבית המשפט ומסרה עדות מקצועית בנושא עלות הנזק משריפות יער הגרומות לפליטת מזהמי אוויר מקומיים וכן לפליטת גזי חממה. בעדותה פרופ’ פלטניק הסבירה כיצד אירועי השריפות משליכים על בריאות הציבור ועל הרווחה לא רק של הקהילות הסמוכות למוקד השריפה, אלא גם של כלל תושבי ישראל.
