The Natural Resources and Environmental Research Center (NRERC) is proud of Prof. Ruslana Rachel Plalatnik, who was recently a guest on The Human Factor podcast, where she discussed one of the most fascinating topics in today’s blue economy and circular bioeconomy: seaweed-based economy.During the interview, she discussed the tremendous economic and environmental potential of seaweed, which could become a significant driver of growth for sustainable marine aquaculture. However, the level of uncertainty in this sector remains very high. The main challenge we face is the lack of sufficient investment in marine research in general, and in the development of the seaweed sector in particular. Without strong research support and targeted investment, it will be difficult to bridge existing knowledge gaps and realize this potential.
